The colour of the ocean, the grey and the shading on the Northern Territories part of the map shows considerable variation on this issue, with the oceam appearing very deep blue and then a more medium blue. The shading of the non-Canadian territory varies from light to dark grey. Finally, the shading of the Northern Territories varies from dull bluish violet to purple. One group of 13 stamps is on DF/NF paper, and have a mixture of different shades. A second group of 11 stamps are on DF/DF paper, and show a mixture of different shades for all three colours.
